Hyatt’s New Promotion: Bonus Points Every 5 Nights Stayed

Hyatt’s new promo, which will run September 1 through November 30, is bonus points based on number of nights stayed.

They’re offering 5000 bonus points after 5 nights and then 10,000 additional bonus points for each incremental 5 nights stayed during the promotion period — up to a maximum of 35 nights.

And just like the Gold Passport winter promotion, Hyatt co-branded credit card holders receive an additional 20% bonus on points earned from this promotion.

Registration won’t be available until August 15 and will close October 31.

I generally like stay-based promotions rather than promos that award the number of nights stayed. But that’s because I tend to have shorter stays, so they benefit me most. Hyatt’s summer promotion rewarded short stays generously with bonus airline miles.

So here I’m torn. The summer promo was stay-based, better for me. This one is Hyatt Gold Passport points, what I prefer to earn for my Hyatt stays. Not the most generous points promo Hyatt has run, either. But as my grandfather used to say, a whole lot better than a hole in the head.

  1. I agree with Gene… Hyatt promos were so much better when they offered FFN (Faster Free Nights) as well as Gold Passport Bonus codes for most properties. What happened?

  2. All bets, are off for predicting future Gold Passport promotions
Gold Passport no longer runs promotions as they have historically and consistently throughout the past decade.
And while off topic the promotional opportunities have sunken to new lows combined with rising redemption costs or in other words a devaluation of members points
While the program at the top tier is solid the cost and opportunity for. Members to earn has really declined over the past few years
Many members predicted this once the credit card was introduced and it looks likely they were correct.Despite repeated denials from Hyatt

  3. @Don I don’t think the lack of strong promotions is related to the credit card, it’s mostly related to the economy or more directly to hotels being full.

  4. I’ll join the “I miss FFN” group. My Hyatt stays have dropped in the past few years, no doubt related to the end of FFN. Last year, I went from 36 stays to 15. Next year will be the first in 8 that I haven’t retained my diamond status. I’ll be happy with the plat status that comes with the card, and put my money toward retaining SPG Plat.

  5. I haven’t encountered a “full” Hyatt on any of my dozen or so stays so far this year. Not even close. But occupancy rates will vary by date and location, of course. Just wondering what this “full” meme is based on
