  1. […] Got plans to head to Europe this summer?  Alitalia is having a special 20% off sale this weekend.  The only caveat is you must book on Alitalia’s Italian site here, and put “SPECIAL20IT” in the promo code box after selecting your fare.  Not only is the sale good for transatlantic flights, but also short-haul trips within Europe. 1. Have they upgraded their business class yet? I flew them transatlantic a few years ago and the “Magnifica class” seats were old school recliner style. Certainly better than the back of the plane, but they seemed a little behind the rest of Europe since BA, LH, AF, etc. had already deployed flat seat solutions. From what I remember, the food and beverage were pretty decent.

  2. I haven’t have any luck getting it to work from the USA for a transatlantic flight and a domestic connection in Italy. I tried with and without codeshare flights on both the Italian and English sites.

Has anyone successfully tested the code?

    Thanks.

  3. Ok I figured it out. You have to book it using the Italian language site for some reason.

  4. I was able to get the flights to price, eventually on the Italian site, but it was almost $1,400 after the discount. Back to the drawing board.

Sicily in August is probably too dang hot anyway.

  5. I booked yesterday on the CA website using an AMEX. I immediately got a confirmation number and an 055 ticket number. Today, the transaction is not showing on my CC and looking up the res. via the AZ website using the record locator, it says I’m not ticketed and no longer reflects the 20% discount. Using the ticket # I get an error. Am I screwed?
