25,000 Delta Miles for $500 Skymall Spend

Update: This deal lasted only a few hours, they’ve already reached their cap of miles being offered.

As mentioned Wednesday, Skymall has brought back their offer of 25,000 Delta miles for $500 in spend. The website for the offer is now live.

They offered this for 1 day in 2010 (and extended it for two weeks). They brought it back this past September 15-18.

This time the offer is limited to the first 1000 orders. Once they’ve hit that number, the website will say just 3 miles per dollar. The required $500 in spend excludes tax and shipping. And while they do offer price matches, the order total after price match must still be $500. Gift cards and Bose products are specifically excluded, and coupon codes void the miles.

Delta Points plans to buy Samsung 32gb tablets, save $50 on a price match, and re-sell them on eBay while capturing the miles. He estimates a net cost of $135 per 25,000 miles.

Don’t forget the top 5 most ridiculous Skymall products. Me, I’ve always wanted a garden gnome… (no, not really)

  1. Skymall really screwed up on the execution. Limited to 1000, stringing everybody along with when it would be open, then not releasing it until 11 PM (central). I planned on getting a Galaxy for personal use, but missed out, leaving me annoyed with Skymall. I hope the folks who were able to get in on it get their miles, though.

  2. @Andyandy. Sorry to hear about you missing out on a Galaxy Tab but unfortunately thats the nature of the beast. I read the flyertalk thread and saw people who bought 40 of them! Unreal. Maybe you can PM them and try to work out a deal with them?

If not you can read my post about how many of these resellers will likely hit a brick wall in the secondary market.

  3. Ha! It’s unlikely that any of them would give me 25K skymiles for the purchase!

I’m not surprised that there was a good deal of speculative buying going on. I just wonder why Skymall limited it to 1,000 (Approx. $500K in sales).

  4. The 4G Galaxy Tabs just came out. Looks like Skymall et all dumped the dinosaur Tabs onto FT’ers where they will sell sub for $300 in the EBAY glut. I plan on buying a Tab on Ebay for about $279 shortly to take advantage of the better end of this deal.
Too bad, the people who bought Tabs will end up with hassle & paying multiples of the Delta Transfer bonus.
