Become American’s Official Oneworld Mega DO Video Blogger and Win Fabulous Prizes!

Key Link: American AAdvantage Contest to Become Their Official Video Blogger on the Oneworld MegaDO

The Oneworld Mega DO sold out in under half an hour. But two sponsors that secured seats are offering them up in contests. The Points Guy is running a video contest for someone to be his seatmate on the charter, and he’s covering the hotel costs during the event as well.

American Airlines is giving away two seats and they’ve just announced details which are really quite generous.

For the uninitiated, this is a frequent flyer once-in-a-lifetime dream trip. 150 enthusiasts charter a plane, meet with the top brass of oneworld airlines, tour the inner sanctum of Boeing, and see all of the behind-the-scenes stuff that passengers aren’t privy to. All in the spirit of fun and adventure, with any leftover funds going to charity. Previous events with Star Alliance have garnered significant media attention, and there always major ‘surprise and delight’ experiences no one would ever have expected, plus lots of swag.

Here’s my brief recap of the Star Alliance event in September and here is the Oneworld MegaDO website>

American is looking to find their ‘Official Video Blogger’ and that person gets to bring along a friend. The winner will get “exclusive access and interview opportunities with American, Boeing, Hyatt and Milepoint executives.” And your videos will be shared through American AAdvantage social media channels.

Like the Points Guy, American is covering a hotel night in each city. American is also throwing in an HD video cameria and the flights to the Dallas launch of the Mega DO and back home from LAX (no word on whether residents of Sydney, Nepal, or the Galapagos are eligible to win).

Entries consist of a 30-60 second video of why they should pick you to be the official video blogger (and I should note, it’s AAdvantage’s official video blogger, I think if you ask Tommy Danielsen, I’ll be the official unpaid Mega DO non-video blogger). The video should include which part of the trip you’re most excited about, and background about yourself.

American will also be giving out 25,000 miles apiece to the 5 videos that get the most public votes in their contest.

Discussion is taking place in the American AAdvantage forum on Milepoint. I can’t imagine there’ll be especially many entries, so changes should be exceptionally good of winning a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Meanwhile, American is also giving out 500 bonus miles to new AAdvantage members who sign up using promo code OWMGD. Apparently no flights are required, the bonus is at signup, and American hasn’t indicated how long the offer will last.
