  1. Starwood is great because the points transfer 1:1 with my airline club. Having this option to avoid transferring is nice too. And SPG Flights has dates that my airline club is fully booked on, and SPG Flights website finds flights to cities that my airline club doesn’t serve. So in that aspect it’s good.

However, how on earth can anyone earn enough SPG points to get a flight? For example, the place I’d like to go this Christmas costs 55,000 SPG points (and there are costlier flights, too). I got 10,000 points for getting an SPG credit card. But to amass 45,000 MORE points, I’d have to charge everything to my credit card for years and years and years. There aren’t many Sheraton hotels around… so I don’t understand how there could be hoards of people with enough points to use SPG Flights.

Is there another way to earn Starwood points besides Sheraton stays, and credit card spending?
